Halloween

Halloween

A spook-tacular Hallowe’en Carnival winds its way through Carndonagh streets on Halloween night. Carndonagh Traders’ Association brings together a number of local groups and volunteers to present 2 hours of performance. The parade begins is at 6pm when the skies are dark. The Parade includes fire, dance and music performances in the town centre. The evening is finished off with a spectacular display of fireworks. As the principle performers each year The Inishowen Carnival Group bring together various groups to create a wonderful parade through the streets. The Inishowen Carnival Group was founded in 1996 and has performed at many high profile events throughout Ireland. They create a unique brand of performance and spectacle involving people of all ages and backgrounds. All performers are volunteers from communities across Inishowen and the North West of Ireland.

The fancy dress and scary costumes aren’t just limited to the kids, we encourage all ages to join in and get involved.  This year we introduced a children’s colouring competition for the month of October and all entries were then displayed in the Visit Carndonagh Tourist Office for viewing.  The walls of the Diamond this year were also used to create a pumpkin patch where folks could bring along a precarved pumpkin and display their creativity.
