Live in the Marquee

Live in the Marquee – Thursday 6th July-Sunday 9th July 2023

Live in The Marquee returned in 2022 after a couple of years absence due to Covid-19.  Live in The Marquee is a relatively new event organised by Carndonagh Traders Association CLG. It was originally created to coincide with The Irish Open Golf tournament which was hosted by Ballyliffin Golf Club in July 2018.  This has now become an annual event where there is a marquee in the Diamond for four days and nights. There are activities for the children during the day and there are two bands on stage during the evening, featuring first class bands supplying entertainment for the adults. The festival is a great attraction to the town for many of our holidaymakers who are visiting in July.  As well as children’s activities during the day we have Outdoor Bingo, local bars battling it out in the Tug of War, and a soapbox derby where engineering and driving skills will be put to the test as they race the streets for glory in crazy homemade karts.  The first Malin Street Ball drop took place this year, where 1000 numbered balls were released at the top of Malin Street, the numbers were sold in the run up to the festival and the first 3 balls to the bottom won their ‘owner’s’ some fabulous prizes.  Local dance troupes perform in the marquee displaying their amazing skills from traditional Irish dancing to hip hop.  You can even join in with some line dancing too!
