On the Ballyliffin Road, a short distance from the Donagh cross, the old Mass Rock can be found. Mass was said in this woodland setting during Penal times. The white cross on top of the altar stone came from the old church in Carndonagh.

This is one of the earliest Christian crosses outside mainland Europe. It dates back to the 7th Century. The Ancient stone cross slab of Donagh and its two guardstones are held by antiquarians to be some of the finest examples in Ireland of low – relief carved monuments remaining from ancient times.
